One of the twelve magical divisions, the Eternal Burning Frost was crafted solely by Hallola Smythkora from the now destroyed Ice Forge. Among the ascended, it is known that Hallola drew upon the energy of nature during the winter solstice of the coldest year in 100 years during her Rite of the Sixth Ascendance. This act, in what some regard as her life's work, brought the world of Huydren the elemental magic of negative temperature control. The Eternal Burning Frost is Huydren's ninth magical division.

Many ascended scholars regard Hallola to be a tempest of power, so it is no wonder the Eternal Burning Frost is both great and terrible. Perhaps only Hallola knows the mechanics and truth of the matter, but the oxymoronic nature of fire and ice is assumed to be a result of her extreme talents in channeling. Only those of great skill and energy are able to call upon the Eternal Burning Frost, and those unpleasant recipients of its pain who have survived describe seeing flashes and feeling sensations of "flaming ice."
